Voyager Ocean Passage Seminars are designed to provide those interested in sailing the oceans and cruising with a very sound basis upon which to build their adventures. The Seminars are ideal for sailors contemplating an ocean voyage, and complement the knowledge of even experienced ocean passage makers. This information-packed event is presented logically, in a professional manner in an informative yet casual atmosphere.

Many years and tens of thousands of sea miles have contributed to the material in these seminars. The power point presentations are augmented with photographs, diagrams, and charts to assure a learning experience. Learn about the ocean environment and how to prepare for it before spending time, trouble and money on equipping your own boat for cruising and passagemaking.

Many people have made life-changing decisions after learning about the oceans and how to cross them in seminars like these. They have gone ahead and experienced their wildest dreams, while others have decided that the challenges are more than they feel comfortable with.

The goal of Voyager Ocean Passages is to help people interested in making their own ocean voyaging memories by providing them with the essentials needed to realize those dreams. These essentials include the expertise and experience amassed and learned over decades of sailing and thousands of ocean miles aboard a variety of sailing vessels.

Combining this knowledge with practical offshore experience aboard Voyager, very competent, confident sailors are enabled to sail the seas on their own.

This knowledge is available by a number of means. Captain Mapes books, Ready to Sail and Further Offshore, are vast storehouses of information for offshore sailors and cruisers readying their vessel and crew for the ocean.

Pay particular attention to the Advanced Coastal Cruising/Offshore Passage making, and the Spinnaker Run to Advanced Sailing courses, as they are specifically tailored for those wishing to become advanced sailors capable of sailing the ocean and cruising on their own. Graduates of both courses automatically qualify for a berth on a Voyager Ocean Passage.
